The Alebrijes are brightly colored Mexican folk art sculptures of fantastical (fantasy/mythical) creatures that escaped the bad dreams of an artist and appear as a variety of different surreal species.

Each particular craft is designed and painted with love and unique inspiration, that means that each sculpture has its own history and has evolved over the centuries to the point where it can no longer be considered the work of one individual, but the product of the creativity and dedication of generation after generation of artisans.
